MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit After 11 years of searching in vain, I've finally seen an owl in my yard! Near dusk Tuesday I took a stepladder to investigate a tree cavity that had been giving the titmice conniptions earlier in the day. The ladder was too short to permit a direct look into the hole, and whistling got no response, so I went inside for a chair and planned to just sit in my driveway and watch the hole until dark. No need to wait -- when I came back outside, a gorgeous red Screech Owl was perched right at the opening in the tree. There was still enough light to fully enjoy the beauty of its plumage. Wow! My wish has been granted at last. Bird #111 for my yard list is one I'll especially treasure.
