The flock was very active and skittish, and moved quickly west towards the Lincoln Monument. Perhaps this was because, as I headed east of the Veteran's Memorial, I flushed up a (the?) Cooper's Hawk (imm.) which then spent a few minutes harassing the local squirrels (who seemed quite used to the whole performance). Then as I walked across the Washington Monument area, an immature Peregrine Falcon dove like an F-14 at a flock of pigeons and then took off over the Tidal Basin. It was probably in Virginia by the time I got my binocs up to my eyes.
