NPR reported on All Things Considered yesterday that there are two young male Calliope Hummingbirds in New York City (Fort Tryon Park in northern Manhattan). They said this is the first record for Calliope Hummingbirds in New York State. What is your opinion on whether it's worth traveling to NYC to see these birds if they remain in the park? (I remember all the excitement last year about the Green Mango in North Carolina; Ken and I were unable to go, but a number of Ospreyers did make the trip.) If it is worth going to NYC, does anyone know how to find the New York counterpart of this list so I can find out more about the birds' location and whether they're still there? I wouldn't be able to go until Monday, but the Mango stayed in the same place for quite a while, so perhaps the Calliope Hummingbirds will also.
