We had some heavy rain yesterday, so I imagine that they didn't fly away after whatever time Tom saw them. Our weather forecast for today is "Windy" and a high of 47 degrees. The Heather Garden specified in Tom's note overlooks the Hudson River, and there are signs on the Cloisters grounds (also known as Ft. Tryon Park) to point you in the right direction. Good luck with parking -- there isn't much there! I am watching the Osprey list carefully to help determine what we do on the day after Christmas. We will be visiting my parents in Bethesda (that's why a Long Islander subscribes to the Osprey!). Best to all for the holidays, birdwise and otherwise! S. The 2 hummers favor the purple blossoms of the large Salvia near the north end of the garden, & are also seen chasing each other, displaying & perching in the vicinity. They appear to have a fair supply of energy, & the flowers to support that as of today but their fate could change quickly if the weather turns sharply colder, as it inevitably will at some point, probably fairly soon. These 2 hummers are now officially here for the Christmas Count period, & will probably be around thru Sunday's Manhattan/S. Hudson count. Best of luck to all, Tom Fiore. **************************** Send eBirds NYC posts to ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
