No such luck (on the duck or the scope), but I was surprised to see a female Blue-winged Teal on the pond below Chain Bridge (on the river side of the pond). I first saw it flying, when the light blue on the wing caught my eye. After it settled down, I could see its dark bill and white at the base of the bill and around the eye. A female Northern Pintail was also at the pond, but no Wood Ducks. Georgetown Reservoir had a female scaup in addition to the usual Ring-necked Ducks, Pied-billed Grebes, and female Canvasback. Happy Holidays!
