This morning at the window feeder was a male EASTERN BLUEBIRD with his harem of four females. The pair of RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES continue to frequent the feeders (since mid-October) along with the resident WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCH pair. Two PURPLE FINCHES appeared yesterday, and were joined by two more this morning. At least two are males. One male fed from my window feeder affording a good photo op. A RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET frequents the beef suet feeder and my first yard sighting of a FOX SPARROW occurred while I was scanning the brush pile near the sunflower feeder. It was in the company of JUNCOS, WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS and a male EASTERN TOWHEE who were all eating millet seed scattered on the ground. A female YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER and a BROWN CREEPER spend a lot of their day at the beef suet. They seem to prefer it to the peanut suet cakes. 24 species in just an hour or so of looking out the window this morning! //////// Arlene Ripley | || Calvert County, MD | 0 || aripley@nestbox.com | || http://www.nestbox.com || ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
