Thus the decision to not use channels 1-7 as USA standards. I am only reporting what I have heard, not direct experience -- probably in the vast majority of cases, there is no problem. BTW, GMRS radios are also wodely available at places like Circuit City, but as Steve says, you need a license to operate these -- they have a purported 5-mile range. It is an older radio service that shares the first 7 or 8 frequencies with the new FRS. GMRS and FRS can be compatible on these lower channels (although some radios will not work well with each other depending on design). GMRS requires an FCC license, but has the option of more power and external antennas which can increase range significantly over FRS. For those of you in remote places, or groups covering large areas (couple of miles distant) they may be a good choice. > > Steve > > ======================================================================= > To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com > with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey > ======================================================================= > ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
