On = Friday we visited Bombay Hook. One knows its going to be great when = driving toward the Refuge one encounters over 100 Horned Larks feeding = and dusting along side of the road or while visiting the Visitors Center = seeing mature and immature White-crowned Sparrows. The on to Bear Creek = Pool and seeing the Snowy Owl sitting on a stick. While observing it = through a scope, one sees that it has its back to you. Then, if = distracted a bit and looking back, finds that it hasn't moved but is now = looking right at you. Then it rotates its head forward again and then = back not only 180 degrees but beyond that. How far can an Owl rotate = its head? We really enjoyed watching that bird. =20 We hit all the spots to Ocean City missing the Great Cormorant at = Indian River Inlet, Red Heads at Crystal Lake, Harlequin Ducks at the OC = Jetty, Oyster Catchers at 4th street, and no Widgeon at West Ocean City = Pond. However, it was great running into Dotty Mumford who was = returning home after the County Xmas Count. What surprised us the most = were the thee Tricolored Herons seen from Hoopers. =20 We came home through Blackwater NWR and hit them all. Got the = Brown-headed Nuthatch, both Kinglets, Hermit Thrush, and 25+ Bald = Eagles.=20 Came home with 89 species which was great for us. We may have done = better but our 13 year old car acted up and we headed home fast. =20 Incidentally, what happened to all the birds at the Cambridge Yacht = Club and on the River? =20 Ben Poscover Towson MD bposcove@bcpl.net =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D =========================================================================
