My first bird, although not an Atlas bird, was a Northern Mockingbird at 05:55 AM. You beat me by 5 minute. I was out about the house in Waldorf starting at 05:15 but no Great Horned Owl. My other 19 species so far in 2001 are: 2. White-throated Sparrow -calling at 5:56 3. Northern Cardinal - calling at 5:58 4. Morning Dove - flushed by eating corn deer at 5:59 5. American Robin - Calling 6. 10 Cedar Waxwings - roosting in the Magnolia Tree 7. 6 Eastern Bluebirds - flying overhead 8 . 3 American Goldfinch - calling 9. White-breasted Nuthatch - calling 10. Amerian Crow - Calling flying overhead 11. 6 Canada Geesse - fly overs 12. European Starling - up to 8 as of now 13. Carolina Chickadee - up to 6 as of now 14. 2 Slate-colored Junco 15. Tufted Titmouse - up to 4 as of now 16. Fish Crow - one calling and flyng overhead 17. Downy Woodpecker 18. 5 Blue Jay 19. 3 House Finch 20. Carolina Wren - 07:44 AM Was time to go in and get warm.
