Still, not a bad start. Highlight at Schooley was a Pileated. Bluebirds and Whitethroats were vying for most numerous, with Robins and Goldfinches in abundance also. Flickers, Juncos, C. Wrens, the little woodpeckers, W.B. Nuthatches, Towhees calling - all in all a pleasant beginning for the year. Saw the Kestral again on the way back. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Fred Pierce (DNRC)- fpierce@avialantic.com Mid-Atlantic Aviation on the Web - http://www.avialantic.com ** Mid Atlantic Air Museum WWII Weekend Airshow June 7-9 2002 and Planes, Trains, & Automobiles Transporation Show Sept. 21-22 2002 - www.maam.org ** *** World Airshow News - www.worldairshownews.com ** --------------------------------------------------------------------- -----Original Message----- From: Maryland Birds & Birding [mailto:MDOSPREY@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM]On Behalf Of Bob Mumford Sent: Tuesday, January 01, 2002 9:38 AM To: MDOSPREY@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM Subject: Re: [MDOSPREY] First Bird 2002 I was dumbfounded to look out my bedroom window this morning as I popped out of bed, and see, not six feet from my face, my first bird of 2002: a winter wren. It was 16 feet off the ground, in most unlikely behavior, more like a Carolina, on an outside light fixture, hopping around checking for insects. Great way to start the New Year.
