Unfortunately, most of the sightings have been in the afternoon. I was there between 8:00 and 12:00. We looped the Bear Swamp trail 4 times before deciding to move on. The Owl was nowhere to be seen. By late morning, many more people were moving in. I do not know if the Snowy Owl was seen later. I left around noon. We did speak with someone who had been to see a rufous hummingbird at dawn's early light at a feeder in Lewes, DE. He was on his way to look for a Western Kingbird at Cedar Swamp, about 10 miles from Bombay Hook. Even though we missed the Snowy Owl, we did have some great close-up (about 10 feet away) sun-drenched views of a kestrel and a great blue heron. Some of the birds we saw were the following: Pippit Killdeer Buffleheads Black Duck Snow Goose Canada Goose Great Blue Heron Great Egret Red-tailed Hawk Harrier Turkey Vulture Kestrel Purple Finch White-crowned sparrow White-throated Sparrow Fox Sparrow DE Junco Brown Creeper Red-bellied Woodpecker Downy Flicker Tundra Swan Cardinal RW Blackbird Starling -Jim Wilson QA COUNTY ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
