The biggest change from a week ago was the large amount of ice in the river. As a result my waterfowl numbers were up- 417 Canada Geese, 55 Mallards, 52 Black Ducks, 6 Gadwall, 1 Wood Duck, 5 Lesser Scaup, 24 Hooded Mergansers (at the edge of the ice off Tenfoot Island, and 2 coots. On the return trip I added 2 Blue-winged Teal and a shoveler. Other highlights were an immature Bald Eagle, 7sapsuckers, 5 Winter Wrens, 6 Brown Creepers, and 3 Ruby-crowned Kinglets. All in all not a bad day finished with 40 species.
