I was looking the other way when it flushed and it was quite a startling event! Also, at the park was an American Kestrel and 3 Rusty Blackbirds. Seen from the Harbor Hospital Parking lot was an adult Bald Eagle circling over Fort McHenry. Waterfowl seen at Loch Raven Reservoir included: 4 Tundra Swans, Many Am. Coots, 6 Green-winged Teal, Mallards, Gadwalls, Am. Wigeons, Redheads, Ring-necked Ducks, Lesser Scaup, Buffleheads, Hooded Mergansers, Common Mergansers, & Ruddy Ducks. Waterfowl seen on the Patapsco & its inlets at the end of very trashy fisherman's path off Frankfurst Ave. (see Claudia Wilds' book, p141-142) included hundreds of Canvasbacks & Ruddys, many Buffleheads, & Ring-necked Ducks, & some Am. Black Ducks, Gadwall, Mallards, Am. Wigeon, Greater Scaup, & Lesser Scaup. Bonaparte's Gulls were observed at Back River. Wishing everyone a very pleasant birding year!
