Balestri" Subject: Lapland Longspurs and a Bald Eagle Mime-version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit I saw at least 2 Lapland Longspurs in a flock of 20-25 Horned Lark in their usual location Frederick County -- NE corner of the Rte 85/Oland Road intersection. I also went down New Design Road toward the C&O and spotted a rather large bird surrounded by crows sitting in a corn stubble field on the west side of the road (fairly close to the road). I stopped, hoping for a harrier. Unfortunately it was a Turkey Vulture (yeah, I know - how could I mistake a TV for a Harrier, but I was going 55 MPH and watching where I was going!). I was so intent on trying to see the TV, I almost missed the adult Bald Eagle that was sitting about 10 yards away! I watch him sit there for a while until he decided it was time to go. He flew off to the west. Hope he/she sticks around and we can find its nest for the Breeding Bird Atlas. -- Marcia E.
