Broadwings are known to winter in Florida and sometimes one doesn't make migration and stays behind up north. I don't think those that stay north survive. But it would be a good record. I saw a broadwing in Washington County yesterday. But it was a captive, non-releasable bird. Although we provide food for it, it can withstand the winter weather so its reasonable one could survive a wild winter if it has learned to adjust its food for the season. J.
