Sunday Hunting Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Ahh, yet another supporter of the "anti-leghold trap" legislation. The same legislation admitted by the Humane Society of the United States to not only target those steel traps used in the fur trade with lethal outcomes, but any trap, even those non-lethal (in experienced hands) used in ornithology. The HSUS also admits that while its unlikely, they hope to ban all interaction with animals, even those harmlessly trapped and released for research. The wording of this proposed legislation was so vague last year as to include the ban of not only "leg-hold" traps (many harmless traps used to capture birds do hold them by the legs) but "body gripping" traps which can be interpreted to include tings like nets (also used to trap birds for ornithology). Why would Mr. Poet wish to promote such a thing on this list? Next thing this animal rights extremist will want to do is ban the voyeurism practiced by bird watchers. I respect their rights to their opinions, but I'm sure tired of their misleading and dishonest tactics. Mr. Poet, care to admit that you are trying to ban some work by ornithologists? But hey. I do like the Sunday hunting regulations as they are, but I'm sure allowing one Sunday for hunters wouldnt be bad. Perhaps they would be willing to give up a Saturday for it? Remember, many of our favorite birding spots would not exist if not for hunters and hunting.
