Brian Patteson recently e-mailed me to let me know that he still needs participants for his winter pelagic trips from Virginia and North Carolina. He said that sign-ups are way down from the last couple of years. He has trips from Virginia Beach on Feb. 2(3) and 9(10) and trips from Hatteras, NC on Jan. 26(27), Feb. 16(17), Feb. 17/18, and March 9(10). Most of these trips are scheduled for Saturdays with Sunday weather dates. Great Skua is likely to be seen, and other reasonable possibilities include fulmar, Manx Shearwater, Red Phalarope, kittiwake, Dovekie, Razorbill, and puffin. A Feb.1999 trip found a Black-browed Albatross off Virginia, and a Feb. 2000 Hatteras trip found a Yellow-nosed Albatross. More details about these trips can be found on Brian's website at http://www.patteson.com/, or you can call Brian at (252) 986-1363. He also said that he still has plenty of space on trips this spring and summer.
