Grebe directions: From Bay Bridge, east on US 50 across Kent Narrows, south (right) at Exit 43B, Chester River Beach Road, which connects to the east-west running Main Street, MD Route 18, which parallels US 50. Left onto Main St/Rt 18, then right (south) at next road, "Perry Cor Rd" which is Perry Corner Road. About 1/4 mile south, second right, entrance lane into Horsehead Sanctuary. Continue (west) to end, parking lot on right (north). From cars, take scopes and follow path by wooden fence further north to end, boardwalk with canoe launch. Looking into the cove from there, facing north towards US 50 (traffic visible), one sees a cove which connects off to the left to Kent Narrows. The first sighting of the first W. Grebe was in the middle of the cove; it drifted left (west) and away towards some houses on the far left shoreline, then back into the mouth of the cove, still some distance left and away. Kingbird directions: From US 50 & 301, follow US 301 north, left (west) at Rt 405, right (north) at Rt 213 through Chestertown; emerging at hilltop from Chestertown after Washington College, left at light, then right onto Rt 20 to Rock Hall. Left, south, on Rt 445 a few miles to the bridge entering Eastern Neck National Wildlife Refuge, continue south past facilities on right and Bogles Wharf Road on left, and watch for entrance to Ingleside Recreation Area (may be gated off) on right. This is the Kingbird's hang-out, this intersection. Parking is available ahead and left at the far end of the field on the left, "Wildlife Trail Parking". Walk back with telescopes and digicams and binocs. The two times I've been there to look for it, it was right there at a little forked tree at the southwest corner of that intersection; it flew out with the approach of the first car both times, and was around for a few minutes or longer both times.
