Mixed in with their cries were loud screams of raptorial outrage coming from our semi-resident Red-shouldered Hawk perched nearby. This struck me as odd, since the crows generally ignore Big Red. Then I looked more closely -- a bit lower down in the tree was an immature Red-tail, the true object of all the fuss. The crows spent the next half hour chasing the young'un till it got the message to get out and stay out.
