We are carefully analyzing this bill and will be stating our position at the hearing tomorrow. Our response will focus on the specific language of the bill, and not be a blanket reaction to hunting in general. And we may not be unconditionally opposed to it. In fact, we are considering opening up at least one of our sanctuaries to VERY limited hunting to reduce the destruction of habitat by the local deer population. As to whether we ever talked to hunters, members of our conservation committee regularly talk to them, as well as other stakeholders. Furthermore, back in August several MOS officers and MOS conservation committee members agreed to meet with members of the MD Sportsman's Association.....but they never followed up and set up the meeting.
