Although I feel as if I just finished the last one, it's time to start the push for the upcoming June 7-9 conference at Wisp. For those of you who remember the last conference at Wisp, it's a great place! The accommodations are nice and the birding is wonderful. I hope all will be able to join us. This year I will have help with the silent auction and raffle. The raffle is being handled by Barbara Gaffney in the Wisp area and I will share the auction duties with Courtney. If you have any items you would like to donate for the raffle please contact Barbara at gaffneyg@mindspring.com. If you have any items you would like to donate to the silent auction, please let me know. I will be the local receiver. If you can, please bring them to the conference with you. It makes my trip a little more spacious! It would be nice to know what we are "up against" on the first day if I have an idea of what will be coming in. Please limit your book donations to those that are relevant to the conference area or pertinent to birds. (Last year I placed an emphasis on shorebird books). There were donations of over 350 books last year!!! I also need help with auction area coverage. A lot of people volunteered last year but never showed up to cover. There will be a schedule at the registration table to sign up for a time slot. Please help us out. It is an overwhelming task to man (or woman) the area at all times. And this must be done. It is an excellent opportunity for those in need of "downtime" to be able to relax and meet others--to catch up on old news or make new friends. For the SOB's (spouses of birders) this is your opportunity to contribute to the conference. If you would be willing to help cover or set up on the first day, please let me know. The first day is the busiest and needs the most helpers. Again, thanks for your help in the past. We couldn't have made over $2000 in the past without you. I look forward to hearing from you and seeing all of you again with "all your treasures" at the upcoming conference.
