MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit The short story: Barnacle Goose seen by Val Kitchens and me, 5:30PM, feeding on the golf course area closest to Hunting Creek. Long version: Luckily I was home from work early when I turned on my computer and saw someone had seen the Barnacle Goose. I threw my binos and scope in the car and raced down the George Wash Parkway. I had just parked the car at Belle Haven Marina when Val Kitchens drove up. We moved to the far end of the Parkway parking lot, and I again raced (well power-walked) up the path with Val following behind. I searched through some of the geese in the bay but came upon two birders walking toward the parking lot who said they'd just seen the bird on the golf course (thanks to you both!!). So I crossed the parkway and set up the scope in the pullout area and in about 5 minutes had Kowa 60X power looks at the bird as it fed. Val and I watched it for quite a while and then made our way back to the car. I arrived in the parking lot as it became dark so I didn't call the hotlines until arriving home. Good luck to everyone. Great bird!!
