What is the object? To guess what strange (out of season) winter birds the other got lucky with? How can you tell when one 'round' ends and the next begins? Why are Stasz and Ringler anywhere near this thing? Is poor little Matthew Hoffman going to be asked to carry on with it after his 'old man' has birded himself to death? Who declares the winners? Is there a prize? Any body else out there having any 'bird wars'? My wife and I have them. They usually center around her "life list" and birds that aren't on it that I know damn well she's seen but forgot about. Now let's all run down to Stockton (wherever that is) and look for 'hoppers in the middle of winter. If you can call this winter. Now there's an interesting question. Are they still called 'winter birds' even if you don't have a winter (like this year)?
