GS BUMED" Subject: Patuxet Research Refuge MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Sunday, 27 Jan 02, 1100-1400: My wife and I went birding on the north tract of the Patuxet Research Refuge. A rather sparse day with only 21 species observed and low numbers at that. 3 hermit thrush, 3 g-c kinglets, and 1 y-b sapsucker provided the excitement. Other than 4 mallards soaking in rays on Merganser Pond and a belted kingfisher at Bailey Bridge Marsh, no birds with aquatic dispositions were seen. Five undetermined hawks lazily circled in the distance. Weather-wise, we couldn't have asked for a nicer mid-winter day.
