Can't comment on VA Red-cockaded, but the Kentucky colony in Daniel Boone Natl Forest at the Tennesee line is no more. The remnants thereof were captured and transported to a more viable colony further south, though I can't recall just where. This past May I was at Cumberland Falls State Park which is smack dab in the middle of Dan'l Boone, and there were several articles on the demise of the KY colony posted on the Park Naturalist's office door. So if anyone was comtemplating a trip there for Red-cockadeds, don't bother.
