MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi all, This morning, braving the cold and drizzle, Gladys Lambert, Barbara Hopkins and I went in search of the barnacle goose about 9:30 a.m.. We first pulled into Cameron Run Regional Park but after scanning all the geese there, found no barnacle. There were two gentlemen who pulled up beside us with binocs. Wait, I'l ask them. Jerry (from the Richmond, VA area) and Luke (all the way from San Francisco, CA) said they knew of other places that the goose might frequent. We followed them in our car to the high school, but no luck. Then we went to a ball field at the intersection of Duke Street and Wheeler Avenue (McDonald's on the corner) and bingo--Luke waved us out! What a great look at the barnacle. No doubt about it. It was in a flock with about 50 Canada Geese about 30 feet away. Didn't seem to mind all 5 of us gawking at it . Was very cooperative and didn't move much at all. Another life bird for all 3 of us. The barnacle is so easy to spot compared to the Canada. It's quite a bit smaller and the coloring is very white and defined. Thanks so much to Jerry and Luke for the help and offer to lead us to other possible locations for the sighting. Birders are a very friendly, wonderful group of people. Especially when they find out it could be a life bird. Thanks again for the help!!!
