Subject: Schoolhouse Pond gulls (Feb. 7)

Sorry for the late post, but its been a pretty hectic week. There was a
juvenile Thayer's Gull at Schoolhouse Pond at lunch yesterday. I had close
looks at it, both at rest and at flight and noted the small, all black
bill, the light back marked with white spotting, brown primaries, and
brightish pink legs. Other gulls present were:

3 Greater Black Backed Gulls (an interesting combination of 1 2nd winter
bird, 1 3rd winter bird, & 1 adult);
16 Herring Gulls;
174 Ring Billed Gulls

I still haven't tracked down a Glaucous Gull.... Today could have good
numbers of gulls at the pond as it was partially frozen over last night and
gull numbers seemed to be building earlier this AM.
