Got a Rusty Blackbird among about 60 Common Grackles this morning in our backyard in Glen Echo. Had never seen one in MD before. Also traveling with the flock were a male and female Brown-headed Cowbird. Of interest as well is a male Red-bellied Woodpecker pecking a new hole in a snag next to our house. He periodically pauses, chirps, looks around, then goes back to work. He was at this work all day yesterday and is still at it this morning. It's gotten so that our Cockatiel, whose cage is next to window near the snag, greets his every chirp with a call of his own. At one point yesterday, a female Red-bellied appeared at our feeders, but didn't seem to be paying much attention to her male counter-part and headed off in a different direction. Also around somewhere, and calling, is a Northern Flicker. Hadn't seen one in a while. Good birding!
