Lookout on February 22: Common Loons - about a dozen Horned Grebes - scores of them, fairly close to shore Gannets - scores of them, streaming down the bay Brown Pelicans - several Great Cormorant - one fly-by, with prominent hip patch Long-tailed Duck (Oldsquaw) - hundreds, often quite close to shore C. Goldeneye - dozens Bufflehead - hundreds, many close to shore R.B. Merganser - dozens Greater Scaup - hundreds, in long rafts off-shore Surf Scoter - a few fly-bys, best seen from fishing pier W. W. Scoter - (same as above) Bald Eagle - one immature In addition, there was a pair of Mute Swans in the pond just before the point.
