Comments: To: Fran Saunders In-Reply-To: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Hi all -- Could this be the same "pseudo-Blue Goose" that is being seen occasionally at Belle Haven and Jones Point? The description sounds very similar re size and plumage. If so, the consensus on the Belle Haven bird is that it is a hybrid. We have seen that bird in both Virginia (Belle Haven) and Maryland (off Jones Point) waters. I am not sure if geese from the Jones Point area get up to Kingman Lake but I recall how mobile the D.C. White-Fronted Goose was, so it is not impossible. If so, keep your eyes open for the (tiny) Cackling Goose we saw in Virginia couple of weeks ago. Photos taken of that bird are pretty diagnostic for Cackling, a potential split and so far, unrecorded in Maryland or D.C.!
