We were looking into the sun most of the time. This location may be much better in the PM. There were at least three American Wigeons, two Hooded Mergansers, 14 Wood Duck, and several Mallards. The Woodies got nervous when we tried to get to a better advantage point up by the road and the entire flock bolted. The bird could still be around and is worth a look. Gwen went to work and I went to the recycle center pond up Brown Station Road and found seven Green-winged Teal (4 males, 3 females). A little courtship calling and head bobbing was taking place. After the recycle ponds, I went to School House Pond and found about nine Gadwalls. The males were doing some courtship displaying and calling also. Pretty cool. Two Mute Swan, two Hooded Mergansers, a dozen Coot, and about a 50 Ring-billed Gulls were also present. I did have two Rufous-sided Towhee at the Brown Station Road Wigeon location. This species is becoming harder and harder to find. Perhaps the deer explosion will eliminate this species as well as other understory nesters. Good birding.
