Possible rusty blackbird, migrating common snipe and courtship display of osprey. Meet at 8:00 am. Call leader for details and driving instructions. Reservations required. Leisurely ride with frequent stops for birding along the beautiful Capital Crescent Trail, from Mass. Ave. to the Potomac River in Georgetown. 10 miles round trip on smooth level surface. Early migrant warblers, kinglets, thrushes as well as holdover White-throated Sparrows and assorted woodland residents and Red-shouldered Hawks. Meet at 8:00 am at corner of Princeton Place and Fordham Street. Directions: From I-270 at Exit 6 for West Montgomery Ave. (Rt 28). From northbound I-270 the left lane of the exit ramp crosses W.Montgomery Ave. and becomes Nelson St. From the southbound I-270 exit ramp turn left at the light onto Rt 28 and cross over I-270. Take the first left at the traffic light onto Nelson St. Proceed 0.9 mile to the third stop sign at College Parkway and turn left. After 0.4 mile turn left onto Princeton Place. From Rt 355 turn on to College Parkway where it begins at College Plaza Shopping Center and proceed 0.4 mile to the second stop sign at Princeton Place. Turn right at Princeton Place, proceed six blocks (0.4 mile) to its termination at Fordham St. and park. Limit: 12. Call leader for reservations. Some nearby fast-food places along Rte. 1 available for lunch after the trip. Bring snacks, lunch insect repellent. Four wheel drive /pick up truck recommended. Prior arrangements to carpool via leader highly suggested. Wear sturdy boots-some hiking necessary. Target birds include ~15 sp. Of warblers (incl. Cerulean, hooded, lots of worm-eating) ? also wild turkey, ruffed grouse, rosebreasted grosbeak.
