In a few weeks he's hoping some shorebirds will be enticed to stop & poke. While the bulldozers were doing their thing with the phragmites, irate neighbors in the Fort Mac area angrily confronted Jim with their interpretation of the wetland activity which they termed "destruction". It took Jim 30 min or so to explain what was going on and why (Jim is a retired teacher). Everyone went away happy with their new found info. It's nice to know folks are watching. Meanwhile on 3/6 five birders observed Swamp sparrows at the Fort's feeders. Later in the am an aggressive Virginia Rail emerged from the salt grass that surrounds "Waldon's Pond" and attacked an unsuspecting Snipe.
