Shovelers 7 N. Pintail Eastern Neck NWR: 2 Horned Grebes (transitional plumage with reddish necks and white = cheeks) 630 Tundra Swans (the NW wind seems to drive them into E. Neck Narrows) 2 Green-winged Teal 1 Long-tailed Duck 6 Common Goldeneye =20 87 Bufflehead 4 Red-breasted Mergansers 3 Bald Eagles (all immatures, good to see a few youngsters) 1 N. Harrier 1 hen Wild Turkey (obligingly crossed the road in front of the car as = the harrier did the same behind) 2 Greater Yellowlegs (at the Narrows) =20 1 Am. Woodcock (calling at dusk on Boxes Pt. Trail) 5 Bonaparte's Gulls (Narrows) 1 adult summer Lesser Black-backed Gull (Narrows) Not many songbirds were about in the wind.
