Hence a short visit to a few sites in the District of Columbia this morning brought nothing much out of the ordinary: At Anacostia Park - a LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL (winter adult) was with loafing gulls on the Anacostia just downstream of the Anacostia Rec. Center a female AMERICAN KESTREL was hunting in the park At Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens -- an immature SHARP-SHINNED HAWK was working the trees near the parking lot, perhaps contemplating the consumption of one of the many DARK-EYED JUNCOs nearby, while a male RUSTY BLACKBIRD was in the wet area beyond the bamboos north of the lily ponds.
