I finally got out at lunch for a quick walk around
the Tidal Basin.  Lots of local birds think that
spring is come (robins, mockingbirds, etc).  Birds of
note included:
   At the DC Veteran's Memorial
    (3) Brown Creepers on the same trunk (not only is
        this the most creepers I have ever seen on the
        same tree, it's the most I have ever seen at
        one time!)
     American Goldfinch
     Eastern Phoebe
   Flying over the Jefferson Memorial:
     Turkey Vulture (unusual in downtown DC)
In a general nature note: the cherry blossoms are bulging
but not in danger of coming out yet, and alewives are
spawning along the seawalls of the Tidal Basin (though
hard to see, because they like to be deep and in the
shade)
