Not much else to see around Hains Point other than a few Double-crested Cormorants. Further up the Anacostia River near the Washington Navy Yard, there were about 50 Double-crested Cormorants and 4 Ruddy Ducks. Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens was quite birdy this morning. Two male Blue- winged Teal and at least a dozen Green-winged Teal could be seen from the end of the boardwalk. Two male Blue-winged Teal were also on one of the ponds, but these may have been the same birds. Other birds seen at KAG include: Wood Duck, Osprey, Red-shouldered Hawk, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Tree Swallow, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Gray Catbird, Hermit Thrush, Brown Creeper, Swamp Sparrow, and at least 6 Fox Sparrows. Two Osprey were again on the runway structure south of National Airport. After seeing the Georgetown Reservoir Long-tailed Duck reported earlier today, I found a Black-crowned Night Heron at Chain Bridge, the first I've seen there this year.
