I have seen fish crows using the same techniques for gathering nest materials as american crows, and my only field observations that I could rely on were habitat and voice. Fish crows are winter residents here, and during extreme cold snaps american crows are "partially" migratory - that is, they are local migrants on the east coast of North America. ********************* Frank Boyle ravenfrank@earthlink.net Laurel, MD ********************* -----Original Message----- From: Maryland Birds & Birding [mailto:MDOSPREY@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM] On Behalf Of Bob Solem Sent: Saturday, March 16, 2002 10:21 AM To: MDOSPREY@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM Subject: Re: [MDOSPREY] Lots of crows building nests When you see a crow carrying nesting materials, how do you tell whether it is an American Crow or a Fish Crow??
