Fenthion is used to control mosquitoes in Florida, but no other state uses it because of environmental concerns. We are concerned that its use may spread unless you act. Fenthion kills birds, even in trace quantities, and is already known to be responsible for the deaths of large numbers of migratory shorebirds including the Endangered Piping Plover. ABC has developed a web site www.banfenthion.org where you can learn more about the harmful effects of fenthion, and send an e-mail to the Environmental Protection Agency and other agencies responsible for the regulation and use of pesticides to express your concern. Please help us in our campaign to rid Florida of fenthion, protect Florida's resident birds, and the migratory birds that pass through Florida on their way to nest all over the eastern U.S.A. and Canada. We need you to act to prevent fenthion use from spreading to other states, like Louisiana. Please visit the "ban fenthion" web site and join the campaign. Please also consider copying this message to your friends and contacts who care about wild birds and the environment. Thank you.
