The highlight was a Rough-winged Swallow, certainly the first that anyone in the group had seen this year. Waterfowl were sparse, a single Pied-billed Grebe, some Canadas, Mallards, and Ring-necks. 36 species total. In the wierd department, there was a Moscovy present, very habituated to humans. An indpenedent birder informed us that the bird was present on Saturday, also. Saturday, 16 March, a male Common Goldeneye and a male Long-tailed Duck were present at Triadelphia. These birds were seen in the morning by the HowCo Bird Club trip. I didn't get out there until 3:15 p.m. Both birds were swimming together, and could be seen from Greenbridge, both the boat ramp and the gas pipeline area. 5 Horned Grebes were visible from the dam, as well as 19 Black Ducks. All these looks were long, a scope was required. Pine Warblers were singing up a storm at Greenbridge and Big Branch.
