I have a BBS route with a stop at the lake. The number in the roost trees
has gone down considerably over the past several years. Am not sure why
this has happened as I have never seen any evidence of 'harassment' or
'control' by the residents.

Perhaps some Frederick Co. members can help with this one. The community of
Lake Linganore was built right in the midst of a sizeable vulture roost. As
soon as people moved in, they found themselves in an uncomfortable
relationship with the 'natural inhabitants'. I never heard if there was
ever
any resolution of the problem. Last I heard, the residents still saw the
vultures as pests and were looking for a way to legally exterminate them.
Good luck with this one. (as everyone knows raptors, including vultures,
are
protected)
