In Montgomery County we have started a Canada Goose egg oiling program to help reduce the growing populations of resident geese and the problems they cause. Volunteers working on this project have found geese nesting on apartment balconies, building roofs, the ledge of a tower several stories up in a parking garage, etc. I have been told, though not verified it in the scientific literature yet, that the large race of Canada goose - which is the primary stock for our resident populations - is inclined to nest in similarly odd locations in the wild - rock ledges etc. They are very true to nesting sites so you will likely see that pair nesting in the same spot for many years if they are successful.
