The park gate usually opens very late for birders (about 9 AM) so bird Wharf Road first. There is a parking lot, a board walk and other trails. Good birding is often to be found at this location. Gwen and I had a Western Kingbird there in October, 2000 so be on the lookout for anything. Lots of waterfowl on the river, Bald Eagles, Winter Wrens in season, and migrants galore during migration. Too bad it is not in Charles County. Good Birding.
