Admittedly, we stayed in the car as much as possible to stay out of the wind! South of the Bohemia we encountered KESTRELS frequently along the way. At Stemmers Run the river was occupied by only BUFFLEHEAD. We did get a nice look at a perched adult COOPERS HAWK. At Grove Neck the impoundment had many ducks, but due to poor lighting and distance away, could only for certain id. RING-NECKED DUCK, GADWALL, BUFFLEHEAD and RUDDY DUCK. There were also TREE SWALLOWS present, and GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER in the woods. Our last stop at Bethel WMA was by far the most lucrative, with a sighting of 21 COMMON SNIPE. Waterfowl included COOT, GREEN-WINGED TEAL, SHOVELOR, GADWALL and PIED-BILLED GREBE. In one interesting tableau, 2 CANADA GEESE sat on a muskrat mound, flanked by a GREAT BLUE HERON at the base, and many TEAL dabbling in the foreground.
