Subject: NW Branch park: Palm Warbler MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain Saturday Morning in the norhtern reaches of NW Branch park (practically layhill). Found a single palm Warbler, a singing L Waterthrush, several active Field Sparrows, and a Brown Thrasher. Many Flickers. Most were on the ground with the robins, but we lost count around 25. We also saw what looked to be a Lincoln's Sparrow. Very fine streaks on the breast, sporting a crest and acting very nervous during the brief view he gave us. The Juncos sang to us all morning also. It's interesting how they are normally on or near the ground in the winter, but when they sing here and their normal breeding ground, they often do so from very high up in the trees. Even our song sparrows often only venture up to the tallest bush to sing.
