Highlights were: In the Kiwanis ballfield park we found 2 migrant SAVANNAHS perched on the chain link fence. Heard my first BROWN THRASHER in the fields behind the ballfields. Off of Davis rd we scanned the corn stubble field and found a VESPER SPARROW!!!! A delightful find along with a mature WHITE-CROWN and sing FOX SPARROWS. In the rec and park property behind Manor Woods ele school we found all the expected woodpeckers. A WINTER WREN skulking along a fallen log, HERMIT THRUSH and pair of RED-TAILS HAWKS (but no sign of a nest). A marshy drainage pond along the sewer cut held a single COMMON SNIPE and 4 SWAMP SPARROWS. A single CHIPPING sparrow singing in a suburban yard made for a very sparrowish day.
