Dozens of grackles. Some are so big that I wonder if they could be common/boat-tail hybrids. Is there such a thing? I am convinced grackles cause more harm to the nestlings of other birds than cowbirds. I have seen them fly off with chicks in their beaks, attack fledgling bluebirds whose maiden-and only- flight ends on the ground, and pace beneath a nest of noisy, about-to-fledge house finches. 3 adult white-crowns, 3 white-throats and 4 juncos. The heads of the white-crowns appear to shine- like spelunkers' headlamps. Lots of nest-building by the expected: robins, modo, house finches, and house sparrows (the latter are promptly ripped out).
