Phoebes, and a pair of Killdeer, "probable" breeders since I witnessed copulation (still a bit early; i.e., not in the safe dates). Does anyone know if they copulate during migration? I know some species will actually copulate while still in migration, and do not stay to nest (such as Sora). On Sunday, March 31, birding along the Hawlings River near Haviland Mill Rd. I found more (singing) Fox Sparrows, a Winter Wren, a non-singing Brown Thrasher, a Canada Goose on a nest on an island mid-river (my first confirmed breeder), and a non-singing Louisiana Waterthrush. Also a few more phoebes, lots of Swamp Sparrows, Field Sparrows, Coopers and Sharp-shinned Hawks.
