This morning, when I took my son to soccer camp, I discovered the herons had returned. I saw SEVEN birds up in a large tree, three stragglers and two pair on nests! The birds were located near the tennis courts which are just west of the intersection of Sligo Creek Parkway and Piney Branch Road. From the parking lot at the tennis courts, proceed west along the path to a small bridge over the creek. The herons were visible from the bridge just a little ways upstream. What a great way to start a day!
