Gannets close in to South Beach, Scientists Cliffs (Calvert Co) 3/30/02 Sat 7:30 am Hughes Hollow. 10 Rusty Blackbirds, 9 Ring-necked Ducks, 1 Ruddy Duck, 100's of Tree Swallows, 1 Red-headed Woodpecker, Phoebes and at least a dozen spooked Wood Duck. Heard a calling Pied-billed Grebe. And, I know you will all be thrilled for me, a county CLOSEOUT with the sighting of a Brown-headed Cowbird.........(mont Co) Sat 2:30 pm Piney Run SP a couple dozen Bonaparte's Gulls.(CArroll Co) Sun pm A purple martin flies over the Calvert Marine Museum. Solomons (Calvert) Tues 6 am. I sit waiting car pool to city. A Merlin dives at some small birds at field edge, scattering them, but flies off preyless. Port Republic.
